Earthing Protection System

SEICO design engineers have come up with an effective and efficient earthing system which ensures protection of personnel and equipment from danger associated with fault currents. The earthing termination network is the means through which the current is dissipated into the earth.

Earthing systems typically fall into (but not limited to) one of the following categories:
• Power generation, transmission and distribution
• Oil and Gas sectors
• Lightning protection
• Control of undesirable static electricity
• Telecommunications.

Specifications and standards::
BS EN 62561-1
BS EN 62561-2
UL-467
UL-486 A-B

Our Earthing products include all materials and methods of connection necessary for an effective earthing system such as:

  • Earth rods and plates
  • Mechanical clamps
  • Earth inspection pits
  • Compression connectors
  • Earth Bars
  • Conductors
  • Earth Electrode backfills
  • SEICOweld Exothermic welding

Features:

  • Low electrical resistance to earth
  • Excellent corrosion resistance
  • Ability to carry the required current repeatedly
  • Reliability lifespan of at least 30 years

Additional factors to consider when designing an earthing system:

  • Soil Resistivity surveys to determine ground resistivity.
  • Soil moisture contents – more moisture reduces soil resistance.
  • Chemical composition of soil – certain salts and minerals affect soil resistivity.
  • Temperature – if the ground is frozen its resistance is much higher.
  • The extent of any buried services which could affect the earth termination network.
  • Details of metallic service pipes, rails, tanks, AC units etc., which may need grounding to the earthing system to prevent the danger of side flashing.
  • Area available for installing earth electrodes.
